Custom Homes
Whether you have your own plans or have contracted with our company to help develop your plans, the end result is that we deliver custom homes to all of our clients. We work closely with all clients to ensure that all decisions are made on a easy, timely, but well informed basis and that each client gets to customize his or her home to whatever degree they feel necessary while also adhering to whatever budget they have set up. We also work closely with all of our subcontractors and suppliers to ensure that all quality standards are met in a timely fashion while also adhering to whatever budget is set up.
The W.G. Smith Construction home is built to stand for decades upon decades while also retaining its value. We use premium grade wood and masonry products for the structure, 30 yr architectural shingles standard, Radiant Barrier roof decking standard, Vanguard plumbing water systems, 14 seer Trane HVAC systems, tankless water heaters, custom mouldings throughout, custom cabinetry, tile and marble showers, etc. All of which can be totally customized to fit individual needs. We also use repeat subcontractors, some of which we have used from the beginning of the company. These subcontractors and suppliers are people/companies that take pride in their work and are proud at the end of the day to be doing the work they do. We may sometimes pay a premium to keep and retain some of these individuals, but we have a great working relationship based on trust and experience. This trust and experience extends to the customer, thus providing piece of mind in the competence of our partners and ultimately our company.
Drafting and design
One major service that we offer is in-house CAD design. This process allows our homeowners to work closely with us in the design process of the home. They have the ability to custom design every aspect of the layout and appearance of their home to fit their individualized needs. It also allows us to gain an intimate knowledge of the important aspects of each clients home, and then have the ability to help design them. We have the ability to take a sketch on a napkin, handwritten notes, and clients scrapbooks of ideas and turn them into a full set of plans. We work closely with each client to design and layout the final floorplan(s), Elevations, electrical plans, roofing plans, foundation plans, etc. To help our clients truly envision what the final product will look like, we also have the ability to create 3-D models of the homes with brick colors, textures, etc. It is truly a very useful tool for every party involved.
Remodeling
Although our main service is custom homes, we have done multiple porch additions, room additions, and full scale remodels around our area. We can aid in both the design and construction of them. Through a process of consulting with you, the homeowner, and taking pictures and measurements, we can put your ideas on CAD and ultimately make them a reality.
Estimates
All of our construction projects are priced prior to contract according to a detailed quantity takeoff and estimate performed on a full set of scaled plans and specs. We breakdown the estimate based on fixed costs (lumber, bricks, etc.) and variable costs (allowances for cabinets, plumbing, etc.). We also understand the importance of a budget, whether it be ours or our clients, and we will work closely with each client to help provide what they want while also maintaining their budget.
